Zithromax (Azithromycin)

Drug Uses

Zithromax is intended to treat such infections as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, skin infections, ear infections, and sexually transmitted diseases.

How Taken

Zithromax should be taken orally. It may be performed in the form of capsule, tablet or liquid. It is recommended to take the medicine one time per day during 2-5 days. Strictly follow directions when taking the medicine. In case you are taking medicine in liquid shake it before each use. It is recommended to take liquid medicine on an empty stomach. As for tablets and capsules it is recommended to take them with a glass of water. You can take them before, during and after the meal. In case it affects your stomach then it is recommended to take the medicine during the meal. Do not stop taking the medicine in case your condition became better; consult your doctor before stopping the therapy.

Missed Dose

In case you have missed to take the medicine do it at the moment you have remembered but skip it in case it is the time of your next dosage and follow your usual schedule. You shouldn’t use double dose simultaneously.

Storage

Keep the tablets at the temperature between 15 to 30 degrees C (59 to 86 degrees F). The liquid should be kept in the tightly closed bottle at the temperature between 5 to 30 degrees C (41 to 86 degrees F) and thrown away after the end of treatment or after expiry of 10 days.

Warnings Precautions

Talk to your doctor about the diseases you have especially liver disease before starting treatment. Doctor may lower you dosage or prohibit you to use this medicine or prescribe you some monitoring throughout the treatment period. Zithromax is unlikely to do any harm during pregnancy period, however talk to your doctor before starting the treatment in case you are already pregnant or planning to become pregnant. You should also consult your doctor before taking the medicine during the breast-feeding period.

Possible Side Effects

Apply for a medical aid immediately and stop taking the medicine in case you experience: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); or liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain or discomfort, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue). However, there could be other side effects. So continue your treatment and contact your doctor in case you have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain; unusual dizziness, fatigue, or headache; vaginal yeast infection; a rash; or increased sensitivity to sunlight.
