Drug Uses
Tramadol is intended when treating chronic pain as required. The medicine can also be prescribed to treat other conditions not mentioned here.
How Taken
Follow your doctor directions when taking the medicine. Read the dosage information printed at the label of the drug.
- The medicine should be taken orally while the meal as well as before or after it.
- Take the whole dose at once without crushing or chewing it.
- Do not stop the treatment in case your condition turns better. Avoid missing the doses.
Missed Dose
In case you have missed to take the medicine skip it and follow your usual schedule. You shouldn’t use double dose simultaneously.
Storage
Keep the medicine at the temperature of 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). it is allowed to keep the medicine at the temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) for a short period of time. The medicine should be kept in the cool, dry and dark place beyond the reach of children and pets. Avoid keeping the drug in the bathroom.
Warnings Precautions
Avoid taking the drug and contact your doctor in case:
- you have any allergic reactions to any component of the drug;
- you experience diarrhea after using antibiotic;
- you are in the state of alcohol, other opioids or narcotics as well as sedatives and sleeping or any other medicines intoxication;
- you are in the nefazodone, carbamazepine, or sodium oxybate (GHB) therapy period.
Note:
- Taking the medicine can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Drinking alcohol or taking other drugs may increase these side effects. Therefore take the medicine with caution and avoid operating any machinery until you are aware of your body reaction to this drug.
- Avoid drinking alcohol or taking medicine that can lead to drowsiness throughout Tramadol therapy period. Contact your doctor to know what medicines can have such side effects.
- Taking the drug can lead to dizziness. Such factors as alcohol, hot weather, exercises or fever may amplify these effect therefore it is recommended not to make any sharp movements to prevent it.
- Let your doctor or dentist know beforehand that you taking this drug.
- Patients in ages should take the medicine with caution as it can have more affect on them.
- It is not studied yet whether it is safe for children beyond the 16 years old to take this drug. Therefore children of this age are prohibited to take the Tramadol.
- The medicine can harm the human fetus. Contact your doctor before taking the medicine throughout the pregnancy period. Avoid breast-feeding throughout the therapy period.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor in case you have following side effects for a long period of time:
• constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; increased sweating; loss of appetite; nausea.
Contact you doctor as soon as possible in case you have:
• severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); agitation; fainting; fever; incoordination; muscle stiffness or tremor; seizures.
