Drug Uses
Paxil is intended to treat depression. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Depression and similar conditions are often arising due to unbalance of the chemicals (such as serotonin) in the human brain.
How Taken
The medicine comes in the form of the tablets for oral usage. The common daily dose is one tablet throughout the meal as well as before or after it. Do not exceed or decrease the prescribed dosage, follow your doctor directions strictly. Do not stop the therapy in case your condition turns better. Contact your doctor before stopping the therapy in case you have treated with Paxil for a long period of time as the doctor will probably decrease your dosage step by step. The effect of the therapy may show after several weeks.
Missed Dose
In case you have missed to take the medicine do it at the time you remember. Follow your doctor directions when taking the medicine.
Storage
Keep the medicine at the temperature between 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F).
Warnings Precautions
Let your doctor know your medical history (especially if you have liver disease, kidney disease, seizures or epilepsy, or a manic disorder or suicidal thoughts) before starting the Paxil treatment. You may have certain contraindication to use this drug or your dosage should be changed as well as additional monitoring may be required in case any of the factors above apply to you. It is known studied yet whether the medicine may harm human fetus. Contact your doctor before taking the medicine throughout pregnancy and breast-feeding periods.
Possible Side Effects
Consult your doctor and do not take the medicine in case you have: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); an irregular heartbeat or pulse; low blood pressure (dizziness, weakness); high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision); unusual bleeding or bruising; or fever or chills. Do not stop treatment and contact your health care provider in case you have: headache; tremor, nervousness, or anxiety; nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, or changes in appetite or weight; sleepiness or insomnia; or decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm. You can also experience other side effects not mentioned in this medication guide. Contact your doctor in case any of them bother you.
