Drug Uses
Nicotinell patch is a substitute intended to help to you to stop smoking. It works for 24 hours.
- Nicotinell (large). The patch includes 52.5mg of nicotine. About 21mg of the nicotine is absorbed throughout 24 hours period.
- Nicotinell (medium). The patch includes 35mg of nicotine. About 14mg of the nicotine is absorbed throughout 24 hours period.
- Nicotinell (small). The patch includes 17.5mg of nicotine. About 7mg of the nicotine is absorbed throughout 24 hours period.
How Taken
The usage schedule:
• Step 1 Nicotinell large = 21 mg/24 hours for 3-4 weeks then;
• Step 2 Nicotinell medium = l4mg/24 hours for 3-4 weeks then;
• Step 3 Nicotinell small = 7mg/24 hours for 3-4 weeks.
The patch should be applied to the hairless area of the skin (front or side of the chest, the back or the upper arm, outer thighs or the top of the buttocks). It is not recommended to apply the patch at the areas of the skin that are irritated or may be set in motion when you move.
Missed Dose
In case you have missed to use the patch do it at the moment you have remembered but skip it in case it is the time of your next dosage and follow your usual schedule.
Storage
Keep the patch at the temperature of 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). It is allowed to keep the patch at the temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) for a short period of time. Nicotinell should be kept at the cool, dry and dark place beyond the reach of children and pets. Avoid keeping the patch in the bathroom.
Warnings Precautions
• Do not smoke or use any other nicotine products throughout therapy period.
• The patches are not recommended to apply by non-smokers or those individuals who smokes seldom.
• It is recommended to stop smoking for women throughout the pregnancy and breast-feeding periods. However contact your doctor before using the patch throughout pregnancy and breast-feeding periods.
• Contact your doctor before using the patches for individuals younger then 18 years old.
Possible Side Effects
Using the patches can cause:
• headache or dizziness; muscle discomfort; mild stomach upset; difficulty in sleeping.
More Information
Nicotinell is not recommended to use for nonsmokers or those who smokes seldom as the patches usage may lead to such symptoms of nicotine overdose including headache, sickness, stomach pains and diarrhea. Contact your doctor at once and unstuck the patch in case you experience any of these conditions.
