Drug Uses
Flomax is intended to treat enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hypertrophy). The medicine relaxes muscles in bladder and prostate and can make urine flow rates better. The medicine is not intended to lower blood pressure.
How Taken
The medicine should be taken once a day orally. It is recommended to take it at first time before going to sleep to avoid dizziness or fainting. Take the next dose according to your schedule 30 minutes after the meal at the same time each day or in accordance with your doctor directions. Do not break the capsule, swallow it unbroken. The dosage your doctor prescribes corresponds to your condition. Do not miss to take the medicine. In case you have missed to use the Flomax for several days consult your doctor. You will be prescribed a new therapy with low dosage. But it will be increased with time. The effect of the medicine can show after the 4 weeks of the therapy. Contact your doctor in case you are not sure how to take the medicine.
Missed Dose
In case you have missed to take the medicine do it at the moment you have remembered but skip it in case it is the time of your next dosage and follow your usual schedule. You shouldn’t use double dose simultaneously.
Storage
Keep the drug at the room temperature of 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a dry and dark place. It is permitted to keep the medicine at the temperature between 59-86 degrees (15-30 degrees C) for a short period of time.
Warnings Precautions
Consult your doctor in case you have allergic reaction to any component of the medicine or other allergies before starting the therapy. Tell your doctor beforehand about your diseases, especially about prostate cancer or unstable blood pressure. Avoid rapid movements to prevent dizziness or fainting. Avoid operating any machinery when using the drug. Avoid drinking alcohol during the therapy. The medicine should be taken with caution by patients in ages as they are more sensitive to drug’s side effects. Women and children are not recommended to take this medicine.
Possible Side Effects
Taking the medicine can lead to dizziness, unusual weakness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, or runny nose. Contact you doctor in case these effects remains for a long period of time or get worse. Contact you doctor immediately in case you have: fainting, vision changes. Taking the medicine can also cause such side effects as sexual problems (difficulty ejaculating, decreased interest in sex), fast heartbeat. Consult your doctor immediately in case you have any of them. Stop taking the medicine and contact first medical aid in case you have long-lasting erections (for 4 hours and more). Taking the medicine can also cause, but unlikely, allergic reaction. Contact medical aid in case you experience: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. Contact you doctor in case you have any other side effects not mentioned here.
