Drug Uses
Antivert is intended to treat such conditions as nausea, vomiting and dizziness that are caused by motion sickness. However this drug may also be used to treat vertigo caused by the vestibular system.
How Taken
Take the medication in accordance with your doctor prescriptions.
- Take the medication in 1 hour before activity or travel with the aim to prevent motion sickness.
- The drug should be taken throughout the meal as well as before or after it.
- Follow instruction on the label strictly until your doctor prescribes another dosages.

Drug Class and Mechanism
Antivert is an anticholinergic. It works by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain, which helps to reduce or prevent vomiting.
Missed Dose
In case you have forgotten to take the drug do it at the moment you remembered about it but skip it in case it is time for your next dosage and follow your regular schedule. Avoid taking two doses simultaneously.
Storage
Keep the medication at the temperature 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) in a cool, dry and dark place beyond the reach of children and pets. It is allowed to keep the drug at the temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) for a short period of time. Avoid keeping the drug in the bathroom.
Warnings Precautions
Don't take the drug in case:
- you experience allergic reaction to any component of the drug
- you use sodium oxybate (GHB).
Contact your doctor at once in case you experience any of the above mentioned conditions.
Note:
- Taking the drug may cause drowsiness or blurred vision that can be amplified by the intake of the alcohol and other drugs. Thus take the medication with caution and avoid operating any machinery until you are aware of your body reaction to this drug.
- Avoid taking alcohol or other medications that can lead to drowsiness (like sleep aids, muscle relaxers) throughout Antivert therapy period as it can increase their effects. Contact your doctor to find out what medications may cause drowsiness.
- The medication may contain tartrazine dye. This may cause allergic reaction sometimes. In case you experienced allergic reaction to the tartrazine contact your doctor to know whether there is tartrazine in your medication.
- The drug is prohibited for the children below 12 years old as it is not clear whether it is safe and efficient for them.
- Contact your doctor before taking the drug throughout pregnancy and breast-feeding periods.
Possible Side Effects
Contact your doctor in case you experience:
- drowsiness, dry mouth
Contact your doctor at once in case you have:
- severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).
