Acomplia is to be used along with diets as well as to treat Type 2 Diabetes and abnormal levels of fat in the blood in overweight patients. The drug is also used to avoid cardiovascular disease.
How Taken
The medicine should be taken one time a day in the morning before the breakfast. The common dose is 20 mg tablet that should be taken whole at once.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Acomplia works on the CB- 1 receptors which are present throughout the body. Acomplia helps in blocking out these receptors which in turn works on intake of food in an individual and curbs his appetite. Weight loss starts taking place as the food intake of an individual is decreased to quite an extent. It acts on the peripheral organs which play a very important part in lipid and glucose metabolism, including the liver, adipose tissue muscles and the gastrointestinal tract.
Missed Dose
In case you have forgotten to take the medicine take it at the time you have remembered however skip it in case it is the time of your next dosage and follow you regular schedule further. Do not take two doses simultaneously.
Storage
Keep the medicine at the room temperature in a cool and dry place beyond the reach of children.
Warnings Precautions
Contact your doctor before starting the therapy and then follow the dosages recommended by the doctor. The medicine should not be used throughout pregnancy and breast-feeding periods. Patients experiencing moderate hepatic impairment should consult their doctors before taking the medicine as the liver metabolizes it.
Possible Side Effects

- anxiety, disorientation, insomnia, nausea, headache, hallucinations, hypertension, heart and kidney damage, palpitations, heart attack, strokes, psychosis, fatigue and hyperphagia (excessive eating beyond normal feeling of hunger), gastrointestinal discomfort and dizziness.
